Synopsis
Psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud invites Professor C.S. Lewis to discuss the existence of God, Freud’s unique relationship with his daughter, and Lewis’s unusual relationship with his best friend’s mother. Lewis in Shadowland (1993) 30 years before this film.
The woman was actually Janie Moore, with whom Lewis lived until 1949
Lewis is researching the Gospels while a woman who appears to be his wife invites him to bed. The film is set in 1939, but Lewis did not marry Joy Davidman Gresham until 1956. [last lines] Sigmund Freud: Mistake by mistake reveals the whole truth..

Director Matt Brown, however, keeps the viewer engaged by allowing us to be impartial on the wall, rather than purposefully steering the conversation in one direction
Also, the events take place on the eve of World War II, and both gentlemen are as brilliant as they are stubborn, as is evident in the many arguments that have turned the tables. Transitions and flashbacks are used extensively to portray character depth, but whether it’s a certain acting style or the timing of individual scenes, this format ultimately doesn’t work. Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Goode showcase their individual acting talents with long monologues and rippling emotions, but their chemistry never really flows in the key moments of their on-stage performance together.
