Despite this, he goes uncredited
Synopsis
Follows Catherine Ravenscroft, a TV documentary journalist on a mission to expose wrongdoing in long-respected institutions. In several episodes, Jonathan uses the same set of lenses throughout, the medium-length telephoto lens. Such a lens will not be able to focus on subjects in close-up, while taking a selfie with Sasha or in the bedroom with Catherine.
At its core, it is a revenge story
I had no idea what to expect when I started watching the AppleTV+ limited series starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline. “Disclaimer” Based on the novel of the same name by Renée Knight, it was written and directed for the screen by Alfonso Cuarón. Blanchett plays Catherine, a journalist whose secrets from her past come back to haunt her in an alarming way, forcing her to confront the past that is destroying her entire life.
The audience is informed (sometimes in vivid detail) that the “events” are important
Catherine’s past. Blanchett, as always, is fantastic here and Kline also gives a solid performance. It was surprising to see Sacha Baron Cohen in a more serious role, but he did it justice.
But damn, I’m glad I’m here
Despite a few minor gripes, I highly recommend this series if you like character drama with a little added tension/curiosity. Note: There are some pretty graphic depictions of sex/intimacy throughout the various episodes. It’s not action packed, and by the end I’m “hooked.” On to the story.
