Essex and Wales collide when Gavin and Stacey fall in love, taking their friends, family and luggage with them. With the exception of the walls shot on location in London in the first episode, the entire series was filmed in Wales, including the walls set in London. Essex. The house used as Shipman House (Gavin family) is located in Dinas Powys, a village 1 mile north-west of Barry, where the Westies (Stacey family) live. In the third series, Bryn and Gavin’s cars have completely different registration numbers than in the previous series. Gavin’s blue Saxo changed from a T-reg (1999 model year) to an X-reg (2000 model year). Brin’s green Picasso changed from CV02 (model year 2002, registered in Cardiff) to HV54 (model year 2004, registered in Portsmouth). These are clearly different cars. Stacey: Excerpts (2007). I have to say that I don’t quite understand the previous reviewer as I think they are on a different planet than everyone else and I felt obliged to clarify. “Stacey” is one of the best comedies I’ve seen in years. The film has a wonderful cast and a brilliantly written script by Ruth Jones and James Cordon. The program revolves around Gavin (a boy from Essex) and Stacey (a secretary from Barry Island), who begin their relationship over the phone while they are at work. Reviews of the series were so good that a second series has already been ordered.
